St Michael’s Summer Camp – Sacred Music Week 4

As priests and religious living a monastic life, sacred music is an important part of our everyday routine. Boys at our summer camp already experience some of this musical heritage at daily Mass and Thursday evening Benediction.

But this year at camp, during Week Four, summer campers will have the opportunity to enter into this musical world of our community in a more profound way. In addition to all our normal summer camp activities—sports, swimming, hiking, campfire, NationBall, and more—Week Four will provide campers of every age with basic training in choral singing and an introduction to Gregorian Chant. The instruction will prepare the boys to sing for our closing Mass on Saturday, while also exposing them to the richness of our Catholic musical heritage.

No singing experience or auditions are required! Boys will be placed in one of three choirs according to their age, and each choir will learn music suited to its choral abilities. The human voice is a powerful and beautiful gift from God, and many young people today do not know how to use it in song. This summer, give your boys the chance to learn how to praise God with their singing voices, and we guarantee they will have a lot of fun in the process!
